MAHS Central Florida Alumni Association - Giving Back to the Community

MAHSCFL gives back to the community

In 2012 MAHSCFL chose Color Run as their community event and donated $2000.00 to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation (JDRF). The 5K event took place at Vinoy Park in St. Pete, FL on December 15, 2012.  A contingent,   twenty-two strong comprising of members, their family, friends and supporters walked the 3 miles for a great cause.

JDRFJDRF is the leading global organization focused on type 1 diabetes (T1D) research and is currently the largest charitable supporter of T1D. The goal of JDRF research is to improve the lives of people affected by T1D by accelerating progress on the most promising opportunities for curing, better treating, and preventing T1D.

Color Run Event - MAHSCFL walks dor diabetesThe event billed as “a one of a kind experience” was less about speed and more about enjoying a color -crazy day with friends and family. The atmosphere was festive and the 10,000 participants of all ages, shapes, sizes and speed registered early on the chilly and hazy December morning to get their white t-shirts completely colored in yellow, pink, orange, purple and green powder. The idea - start out as a clean, blank canvas and finish looking like a tie dyed Jackson Pollock painting. Thanks to all our sponsors.
