"Memories of a great fundraising event"

July 27th (2013) was the send off pre cruise party of all send off parties where, among board members dressed in nautical attire, a beautiful ice sculpture with the school emblem and motto, great food, a well-run cash bar and fantastic sounds by DJ Waggy T, the MAHS Alumnae and family (300 plus strong) prefaced what would be a wonderful 4 day cruise aboard the Carnival Imagination. We honored Sister Odette and Jackie Jarrett our MC kept the evening flowing seamlessly. [See Pre-sail Party photos below]

MAHS Alumnae actually put the fun in the Fun Ship motto for this Carnival Cruise. Dressed in white t-shirts with the school emblem motto and dates of the fund raising cruise we waited for an early boarding on July 29th. After lunch on the Lido Deck in an area that would later be our standard meeting place, near the stage, most of us located our cabins, unpacked then headed right back to that aforementioned stage.

Here under the watchful eye of our own in resident DJ as the Carnival DJ played, we showed our fellow cruisers that this was serious fun as we had a dance sail off party of our own. 70 plus girls ( okay women) moved like we were still in high school and were joined by a 17 y/o young man with moves beyond Jagger!! Later his 93 y/o grandfather joined in on the fun as well,to the delight of all.

The fun continued in the main dining rooms as we playfully joined in the wait staff's usual performance, bumping it up a notch by dancing and singing right along.

Formal night and the Captain's Celebration brought out our finery as we dined on fantastic food and took opportunities to have multiple group photographs made. In fact our two photographers were kept quite busy on this cruise with varying fun candid moments as well.

Of course the ports of call were interesting as we embarked on excursions to the Southern Most Point in America, enjoyed Kermit's Key Lime Pie and took various other tours to the San Gervasio and Tulum ruins and the beaches of Cozumel. Shopping was definitely at A level as we indulged in the duty free shops. On full sea day the allure of on board pampering and just relaxing was a welcome change.

Highlighting our on board time was the night we enjoyed ourselves with more dancing as well as Carnival drinks in the Shangri La Lounge which we had all to ourselves. Our resident DJ provided the sounds to which we danced the night away. Many other passengers stopped to see what these MAHS girls were up to again and a few joined in. Our Mobay High counterparts who were on board also participated.  We then topped the morning off with a Mexican midnight buffet.

All too soon the cruise was nearing it's end. Second fund raising t shirts were made available to all who wanted within our group and our honorary participants in the fun also bought as did complete strangers who wanted to support our efforts to assist our school  based on what they had  experienced with the group that was on board, so full of life and fulfilled promise. [See Cruise photos below]

As we said our goodbyes with promises to keep in touch we again avowed how blessed we are to be MAHS alumnae with a purpose and joy of life beyond measure.
