How to Make the Most of Your Charitable Giving

MAHS Central Florida wants you to consider where and when your charitable contributions may have the most impact.

As the clock ticks down to the end of the year, fund-raisers are out in force.  In the spirit of the season, and with an eye toward trimming your tax bill, you may be swayed to open your wallet—a sentiment we encourage.  Yet, if your largesse leaves you with no real sense that you’ve made an impact, make a plan to give smarter.  You can put your plan into action now or make a New Year’s resolution to put it in place for 2015.

Many companies offer  programs that will match any charitable contributions to an organization of your choosing. Since M.A.H.S Central Florida International Chapter holds a tax-exempt 501 c (3) public charity status, your donation will be tax deductible.

 This Chapter will furnish you, upon request, with any information required to complete processing requirements to enroll in such programs.  Aetna, for example, encourages employees to elect their own charity and MAHS Central Florida is now a listed organization  to receive funds within their matching grants that will enable us to expand our endeavors.

We encourage each alumna to inquire within their own company's HR department to see if any such programs are available, to enroll, and schedule their contribution throughout the year (through automatic payroll deductions).

On another note, besides the scholarships that our Chapter awards to a deserving student, there is another way to help and be a part of the success in a student's scholastic life. Our Tuition Assistance, Scholarships, Breakfast, & Lunch Programs continue to make a difference in the lives of many of our little sisters at Mt. Alternatives to direct monetary donations.

1. PARTICIPATION IN OUR EVENTS: With your contribution of time, resources and effort, we can enhance and support a student’s well being.
   
   
2. MENTORING PROGRAM:
   
   Mentoring is a successful strategy to help students succeed in life and to discover how to unlock and achieve their potential. We believe that not only will you find the experience rewarding, but you will gain much more than your investment into this program.
   
   
3. ASSISTANCE IN THE ADVANCEMENT OF EDUCATION:
   
   

   The possibility of a better life begins with higher education. Each year more students are struggling to make ends meet and stay in school, as affordability continues to become a growing barrier to student success. We will continue to identify and offer support in the  relief to the distressed and underprivileged in need of support to attain advancement in higher education.

4. EDUCATIONAL RESOURCE FUNDS
   
   

   This resource Fund will allow you to personalize and apply conditions to your donations. These funds can be set up in the name of an individual , family , business or other entity. These funds are not limited  and can be used for education and community purposes. 
   

5. MAKE A DONATION WHEN YOU JOIN M.A.H.S.Central Florida Chapter OR Renew Your Membership - You may add a donation to the Educational Resource Fund on your M.A.H.S Membership payment.

   We welcome sponsorship, donations of any kind, professional and expertise services which will enable us to accomplish our goals.
   
   Mt. Alvernia has graduated a diverse group of alumnae, excelling in fields that span various professions. No matter what area you work in, your contribution, dedication, and expertise are valuable and needed. We encourage you to offer your services to this chapter.
